Our high school students are being introduced to software programs through our library. These are primarily for research, but it requires the teachers to instruct students on how to use them. The programs include Destiny (catalog of everything in the library), SIRS (database of newspaper and periodicals), EBSCOhost (database of newspaper, periodicals, and primary materials), and Noodle Tools(research tool for bibliographies and note cards). For any teacher who hasn't been introduced to the use of these databases and tools, the task is daunting. The librarian and I agree that learning how to utilize these tools is important for our students, but teaching the other teachers has been a slow process.
