How about wikis? Have you used one? Is it something you could use in your classroom? Are wiki sites blocked at your school site? See the video if you don't know what a wiki is and share your thoughts about wikis here in the forum.
I love using wikis. My former principal was annoyed with me because I wanted to do a wiki for everything, he referred to me as Mr wiki wiki. I used them with students for assignments, with teachers on a collaborative group project (animals Unit) and used a wiki with the tech coaches to collaborate and share ideas. I prefer wikis over blog, but that is just my preference, I like the collaboration aspect.
As for being blocked, wikispaces and pbwiki are not blocked at our sites, at the moment...
I have used Google Groups and the assorted Google collaborative tools for some time. I am getting ready for my first wiki (an AVID career wiki). Any advice I should have in advance?
We use an educational Google domain for students. In collaborate mode it acts like a wiki. It works great as long as you don't have too many students on at one time. This topic was brought up on the CETPA Edtech listserve last week. Since you need an e-mail address it was highly recommended that you get parent permission before you sign the students up.
